Hazrat Imam Mahdi (as) bears the special characteristics and more from the previous prophets. He is the embodiment of their virtues and qualities. He carries their signs and is the inheritor of all that they stood for and what was revealed upon them. The following article mentions the similarity between Hazrat Lut (as) and Imam Mahdi (as).
Angels came down to assist Hazrat Lut (as). “They said: O Lut! we are the messengers of your Lord; they shall by no means reach you…” (Chapter 11 verse 81)
Imam Mahdi (as) is also such: That angels would come down for his assistance.
It is mentioned in the report of the maidservant of Imam Hasan Askari (as) that, “When the Sayyid was born I saw a light from the Imam (as) that reached upto the horizon and I also saw white birds that came down from the sky and rubbed their feathers on his head, face and all the parts of his body, then they flew away. And when I reported this to Imam Askari (as), he smiled and said: They were angels and they had come down for this baby and they shall be his helpers when he reappears.” (Kamaluddin volume 2 page 431)
The resemblance of the Imam (as) with Lut is also that Lut (as) went out from the city of transgressors. Imam Mahdi (as) also in the same way left the countries of transgressing people.
